History: The house in 1897, was the Christopher H. Starke-Charles and Matilda Baerwald House. Most of Kilbourn Ave. residences were built in the 1880s and 1890s. Most of these homes were originally owned by business executives and merchants. The styles of these houses are of Queen Anne and Romanesque style with a large influence from German and Flemish architecture.
